Resistance to deformation and bursting depends on various factors such as material, geometry, type and duration of stress and environmental conditions.<\/span><\/p>\n

There EN 12413 standard<\/a> requires that cutting and grinding discs have sufficient bending and impact resistance, determined by the lateral load test and the impact test. In addition to a centrifugal force resistance factor, verified by the burst test (destructive test).<\/span><\/p>\n

The lateral load test is performed on both cutting discs and grinding wheels.<\/span>The abrasive disc is subjected to pressure with an appropriate lateral load, while rotating at maximum operating speed.<\/span>. If the grinding wheels reach the required value without breaking, the single point lateral load verification is considered to be provided. Grinding wheels used for the test shall be destroyed.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the impact test, the resistance to a lateral impact load, similar to a shock, is determined. The grinding wheel to be tested is fixed on a rotating spindle by means of flanges and then accelerated to its maximum operating speed. The rotating grinding wheel is then loaded laterally with one or more successive impacts, until it breaks. Verification of the working capacity is considered to have been achieved if no damage is visible to the naked eye at the required value. <\/span><\/p>\n
